# Team Formation, Team Communication and Idea Pitching

## Pitching
\ No newline at end of file |
- Pitch your game ideas
- Pitch your game idea in a small groups. If you're willing to, you can also pitch your idea in front!
- Challenge each others ideas, have an conversation
- Whats good about the idea
- What would you change about the idea
## Team Forming
- Based on the game ideas you're interested, form teams of 4-6 (preferably 5)
- Consult the TeamBuildingToolKit from Optima!
- Discuss your roles in the project
- In every group there should be someone who has the main responsibility in:
- Project Manager
- Game Designer
- Programming
- Art
- Come up with a name for your team!
We suggest that you have 5 persons in a group. That means you might have one role two times. Think about your game idea, is it programming heavy, or is it light on programming but heavy on graphical asset side? Is it based on music?
When you have your team set up, DM (Direct message) your team name and developers to Paavo on Slack.
## Research
- Decide which game idea you like the most
- Research your game idea
- Is it already done, should you change something to fit the market better?
- Does it fit the timescale, how would you scale it down
- What would be the MVP? How would you break it down to smaller pieces?
- Technical aspects: Can you find enough resources and tutorials to help you? Does it need complex 3D models or can you use something easier?
- Get familiar with tools you will be using, for example [Github](https://guides.github.com/), [Slack](https://jamk-it.slack.com)
- Choose your communication method! You can for example create a private channel on Slack. Some have used Discord or WhatsApp as well. It's your choice but we encourage using Slack since we have our course channel there :)
## After today...
So now you should have:
- Team of 4-6 game developers
- Name for your team
- The base idea for your game
- Some research done about your idea
- Some method of communication
Next week you will start doing a prototype of your game idea, the GDD (Game Definition/Design Document) and the GPP (Game Project Plan). |
